Cuarto y último single de "Currents" (2015), el tercer álbum de Kevin Parker bajo el nombre Tame Impala. Es, con diferencia, la canción más escuchada del proyecto, superando los mil millones de reproducciones en Spotify.
Lo curioso es que casi no existe como canción de Tame Impala. Parker la compuso pensando en regalársela a Mark Ronson para su disco "Uptown Special" (el mismo que incluye "Uptown Funk"), pero Ronson la rechazó. Parker se la quedó y la terminó en una sola noche.
El tema es un giro hacia el funk-disco que al propio Parker le costó aceptar: llegó a decir que le parecía "un poco cutre" para un disco de Tame Impala, con una letra "tonta" y un groove igual de tonto, pero que le encantaba ese tipo de música de todos modos. La grabación se convirtió en una obsesión: aseguró haber hecho más de 1.000 tomas vocales.
Sobre Trevor, el rival amoroso que da nombre a media internet de memes: Parker ha confirmado que no existe, que es solo un nombre que rimaba bien con el resto de la letra.
El videoclip mezcla animación dibujada a mano con acción real y transcurre en un instituto, con un jugador de baloncesto sufriendo un desamor en los vestuarios.
