Haken es una de las bandas más relevantes del prog rock actual. Formados en Londres en 2007, llevan quince años construyendo un sonido que bebe del prog sinfónico clásico, el metal progresivo y el jazz fusion, sin sonar a pastiche de ninguno de ellos.
"Nightingale" fue la primera canción que el teclista Pete Jones presentó a la banda tras su regreso, después de haber sido miembro fundador y de haberse alejado durante más de una década.
Siete minutos que van de momentos delicados a riffs monumentales, con la producción de Jens Bogren dándole una claridad y una energía difíciles de igualar en el género hoy en día.
La canción está inspirada en el cuento *El Ruiseñor* de H.C. Andersen, y su conexión con el ruiseñor — pájaro nacional de Ucrania — adquirió una dimensión especial cuando estalló la guerra en febrero de 2022, pocas semanas antes de su lanzamiento.
La banda lo describe así: "Líricamente, la canción reflexiona sobre el proceso creativo en sí mismo, con un mensaje de que aunque las cosas sean difíciles, debemos recordar ser agradecidos por los aspectos positivos de la vida, sean grandes o pequeños."
