House of Protection es un dúo de Los Ángeles formado en 2024 por Stephen Harrison (exguitarrista de The Chariot) y Aric Improta (batería de Night Verses), que se conocieron siendo compañeros en Fever 333. Tras dejar esa banda juntos en 2022, decidieron reinventarse fichando por Red Bull Records y, por primera vez en sus carreras, asumiendo el papel de vocalistas. El nombre del proyecto está inspirado en "Protection", canción de Massive Attack, uno de los grupos que Aric estaba escuchando (y leyendo su biografía) cuando arrancaron esta aventura.
"Pulling Teeth" forma parte de su EP debut, GALORE (2024), producido con la colaboración de Jordan Fish (Bring Me The Horizon). El tema mezcla hardcore, punk y electrónica, con esos estribillos coreables tan característicos del dúo, que suenan enormes en directo pese a ser solo dos personas sobre el escenario.
En cuanto a la letra, "Pulling Teeth" (literalmente "sacar muelas", una expresión que en inglés se usa para algo extremadamente doloroso o tedioso) habla sobre la mentira y la dificultad de enfrentarse a las propias verdades. El narrador describe un patrón de autoengaño y culpar a los demás, mientras reconoce que intentar arrancar esas mentiras de raíz —como quien se saca los dientes— no borra el daño ya hecho. La frase "damages have gone beyond all correction" resume la idea central: hay heridas que ya no tienen solución, por mucho que uno intente arreglarlas a la fuerza. Incluso el propio nombre de la banda, House of Protection, se usa de forma irónica en la letra: ni ese refugio puede protegerte de las consecuencias de tus propios actos.
