Canción recién salida del horno. Europe acaba de publicar "The Cult of Ignorance" el 3 de junio de 2026, segundo single de "Come This Madness", su nuevo álbum previsto para el 25 de septiembre, el primero en nueve años desde "Walk the Earth" (2017).
El título no es una ocurrencia: Joey Tempest ha explicado que la frase la acuñó el escritor y bioquímico Isaac Asimov, y que la canción refleja algunas de las tendencias más preocupantes del mundo actual, aunque con un tono deliberadamente irónico. La idea surgió cuando el teclista Mic Michaeli se la llevó a Joey durante la gira por Sudamérica. El resultado es un himno de rock directo, con un estribillo que no se te va de la cabeza.
El videoclip es una especie de celebración de la cultura sueca. Aparecen, entre otros, la actriz Malin Åkerman ("Watchmen"), el tenista Stefan Edberg, el astronauta Christer Fuglesang, Howling Pelle de The Hives, Mikael Åkerfeldt de Opeth, Anders Fridén de In Flames y el músico eurodance E-Type. Dirigido por Patric Ullaeus, uno de los directores de vídeos de metal más reconocidos de Europa.
El álbum fue grabado en los estudios RMV de Estocolmo, fundados por Benny Andersson de ABBA, y producido por Tom Dalgety, que ha trabajado con Ghost, Rammstein y The Cult. La mezcla corrió a cargo de Mike Fraser, el hombre detrás del sonido de AC/DC y Metallica.
