Teddy Swims - Mr. Know It All

Mr. Know It All es el single que Teddy Swims lanzó el 10 de abril de 2026 a través de Warner Records, y que da nombre a su nuevo álbum. La canción habla de esa sensación de saber, desde el principio, cómo va a acabar una relación, y de cómo esa capacidad de anticiparse acaba convirtiéndose en una condena: te proteges de antemano, y esa distancia es precisamente lo que hace que la relación fracase.

El propio Swims lo explicó diciendo que el tema explora cómo el amor puede convertirse en una contradicción que se cumple a sí misma: cuando crees que ya sabes cómo va a terminar, te proteges guardando las distancias, y esa distancia acaba siendo la razón del fracaso.

Musicalmente es una mezcla de rock de aire ochentero con producción de R&B, escrita por el propio Swims junto a Alexander Izquierdo, Ed Drewett, Joshua Coleman, Julian Bunetta y Rosie Danvers, y producida por Ammo, Bunetta y John Ryan.

Teddy Swims, de Georgia, se dio a conocer en YouTube haciendo versiones de todo tipo de géneros con su voz soul característica, antes de convertirse en uno de los nombres más grandes del pop y R&B actual gracias a éxitos como Lose Control.

Polyphia feat. Steve Vai - Ego Death

Polyphia son una banda estadounidense de Texas que se ha convertido en referencia del "djent" instrumental y del rock progresivo moderno, mezclando técnica virtuosa con producción muy pulida y toques de trap y R&B. "Ego Death" es una de las canciones de su álbum Remember That You Will Die (2022) y cuenta con la colaboración de nada menos que Steve Vai, uno de los guitarristas más legendarios e influyentes de la historia.

El tema es un choque generacional de dos formas de entender la guitarra: el estilo más clásico y virtuoso de Vai frente al sonido futurista y digital de Tim Henson y Scott LePage. Según contó el propio Vai, tardó bastante en grabar su parte porque quería aportar algo especial y distinto a lo que suele hacer. Cuando escuchó el resultado final se sorprendió, ya que Polyphia había troceado y manipulado bastante su solo original, algo a lo que no estaba acostumbrado. El resultado gustó tanto que los lectores de Guitar World votaron el solo de Vai en esta canción como el mejor solo de guitarra de 2022.

Mason Williams / California Guitar Trio - Classical Gas

Instrumental. Sin voz, sin letra, solo guitarra que fluye como si nada más importara.

La compuso Mason Williams a mediados de los 60, cuando trabajaba como guionista en el show de los Smothers Brothers. En realidad la escribió como pieza de práctica para guitarra clásica, un simple ejercicio al que llamó Classical Gasoline. Un copista musical acortó el título al pasarlo a partitura y se quedó en Classical Gas.

La versión que todos conocemos, con orquesta y esos arreglos que se te meten en la cabeza, se la debe al productor Mike Post. La anécdota curiosa: la primera vez que Post escuchó la pieza le dijo a Williams que era "lo más sobrecargado de arreglos que había escuchado en su vida". Williams lo echó del estudio. Al día siguiente Post se disculpó y acabó componiendo el puente central del tema, el que le da ese giro tan reconocible.

Técnicamente es una pieza endiablada: cambia entre cuatro compases distintos (3/4, 4/4, 5/4 y 6/4) en apenas tres minutos, y se toca con uñeta de pulgar y dedos a la vez.

Se estrenó en el show de los Smothers Brothers acompañada de un vídeo con miles de imágenes de arte pasando a toda velocidad, titulado 3000 Years of Art, de ahí también parte de la explicación del nombre. Entró en el Hot 100 de Billboard en junio de 1968 y llegó al número 2, solo por detrás de "Hello, I Love You" de The Doors. Ganó dos Grammy.

Hay una versión posterior, de 1987, grabada junto a Mannheim Steamroller, con un aire más new age y orquestal, que también merece la pena. 

Y otra muy distinta: la del trío California Guitar Trio, formado por tres guitarristas surgidos de los cursos de Robert Fripp, que la incluyeron en su álbum Pathways de 1998 y la convirtieron en un despliegue de virtuosismo a tres guitarras.

Heart - Crazy on You

Hoy toca un clásico del rock de los 70: "Crazy on You", de Heart.

La canción abre el álbum debut de la banda, "Dreamboat Annie" (1975), y es una de las composiciones más icónicas de las hermanas Ann y Nancy Wilson. Nancy escribió esa introducción acústica, bautizada como "Silver Wheels", inspirándose en el tema "Question" de The Moody Blues. La grabó con una guitarra Guild Jumbo con la acción tan alta que, según ella misma, era "un infierno" tocarla, y usó una técnica híbrida (púa y dedos a la vez) que la convirtió en una de las intros más complicadas de reproducir del rock clásico.

La letra la escribió Ann mientras estaba enferma con fiebre, inspirada por el caos del mundo de la época (Guerra de Vietnam, crisis del petróleo) y por su relación con Michael Fisher, hermano del guitarrista de la banda, Roger Fisher. La idea era esa sensación de refugiarse en el amor mientras todo alrededor se desmorona.

El tema no fue un éxito arrollador en su momento (llegó al puesto 35 del Billboard Hot 100), pero con los años se convirtió en un himno y en una de las canciones más queridas del catálogo de Heart.

Depeche Mode - Waiting for the Night

Uno de los momentos más íntimos de Violator (1990), el álbum que catapultó a Depeche Mode al estrellato mundial. "Waiting for the Night" es el quinto corte del disco, escrito por Martin Gore, y contrasta con la energía de "Personal Jesus" o "Enjoy the Silence" con una atmósfera lenta, casi hipnótica.

La canción nace de la fascinación de Gore y el productor Flood por Tangerine Dream: quisieron crear una secuencia similar usando un ARP y su secuenciador. El resultado es un tema construido sobre capas de sintetizadores y una cantidad brutal de delays. De hecho, cuando en 2006 remasterizaron el álbum, el ingeniero Kevin Paul reconoció que fue de las canciones más complicadas de reconstruir: contaba con unos 15 delays distintos repartidos entre voces y batería.

Curiosamente, muchos fans la conocen erróneamente como "Waiting for the Night to Fall", pero ese nunca fue el título real. Gore explicó en una entrevista de 1990 que la letra habla de esperar la noche como una especie de "alto perfecto y natural", un refugio frente al día.

El videoclip oficial, dirigido por Anton Corbijn (colaborador habitual de la banda), acompaña esa quietud con imágenes en blanco y negro muy en la línea estética que Corbijn definió para Depeche Mode en esta época.

Versión destacada: la banda sueca Ghost (entonces Ghost B.C.) grabó una versión para la edición japonesa de su álbum If You Have Ghost (2013), con Papa Emeritus II al frente. Es una relectura oscura y teatral, muy fiel al espíritu original pero con ese aire satánico tan suyo.

Fux Beat, Cimafunk, Tostao - Ayer Te Vi

Ayer te vi es el nuevo tema de Fux Beat, un productor y DJ puertorriqueño de Aguadilla, nominado al Grammy y ganador del Latin Grammy, que se mueve entre el reggaetón, el house, el indie rock y el ska. Aquí se junta con dos voces muy potentes de la música afrolatina: Cimafunk, el artista cubano que fusiona funk con ritmos afrocubanos y que empezó estudiando medicina antes de dedicarse a la música, y Tostao, miembro del grupo colombiano ChocQuibTown, con quien Fux Beat ya había colaborado antes en el tema "No Me Dejó".

La canción es un lanzamiento muy reciente, del 30 de julio de 2026, bajo el sello Sony Music, y reúne en un mismo tema tres países distintos: Puerto Rico, Cuba y Colombia, todos con raíces en la música negra del Caribe y Latinoamérica.

Dan Byrne – She's the Devil

Dan Byrne es un rockero británico que en 2026 lanzó su primer álbum, This Is Where the Show Begins, a través de Frontiers Music. "She's the Devil" es uno de los singles de adelanto, y el propio Byrne lo describe como el tema más desatado del disco: rock puro, con un toque blues-rock elevado al máximo y un puente que guiña el ojo a Whitesnake.

La canción habla de atracción y peligro: saber que alguien (o algo) es mala idea, y caer de todos modos. Byrne juega con la imagen del diablo tomando forma de mujer, de amante o incluso de una idea, algo que según él conecta con un hilo recurrente en el álbum: usar imaginería religiosa como herramienta literaria para explorar el conflicto humano y el deseo. El tema está producido de nuevo por David Radahd-Jones, colaborador habitual de Byrne, y él mismo ha dicho que es una de las pocas canciones del disco donde pudo soltarse del todo y mostrar el rango completo de su voz.

Kavinsky - Nightcall

"Nightcall" es probablemente el tema más conocido del synthwave moderno, y todo gracias a una película. Kavinsky (Vincent Belorgey) lo publicó como single en 2010, pero su fama internacional llegó en 2011 al abrir los créditos de Drive, la película de Nicolas Winding Refn con Ryan Gosling. Ese arranque nocturno con Los Ángeles iluminado bajo los sintetizadores marcó a toda una generación de aficionados a la estética ochentera.

La canción tardó unos cuatro años en gestarse y nació de una idea de Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, de Daft Punk, quien coprodujo el tema. Las voces las pone Lovefoxxx, cantante de la banda brasileña CSS. El propio Kavinsky explicó una vez que la letra habla de un hombre convertido en zombi que vuelve a casa de su ex para decirle que ya no es el mismo, aunque ella ha rehecho su vida y lo rechaza: "tiene remordimientos e intenta ser un buen hombre, pero no puede porque está muerto".

Curiosidad triste: Kavinsky falleció el pasado 28 de julio de 2026, a los 50 años, encontrado sin vida en su casa de París. Se investigan las causas, aunque algunos medios franceses apuntan a un posible ictus.

Versión: en la ceremonia de clausura de los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024, "Nightcall" se interpretó en directo con Kavinsky, la banda Phoenix y la cantante belga Angèle asumiendo la voz principal. La actuación disparó las búsquedas del tema en Shazam hasta niveles récord.

Kate Bush - The Man with the Child in His Eyes

Segunda entrega del debut de Kate Bush, "The Kick Inside" (1978), aunque en realidad la escribió con solo 13 años y la grabó a los 16. Ahí es nada. El single llegó al número 6 en el Reino Unido y se llevó el Ivor Novello Award a "Mejor Letra Británica" en 1979.

Lo curioso del tema es que todo el mundo se ha preguntado siempre quién es "el hombre con el niño en los ojos". Durante años se especuló que se refería a Steve Blacknell, su primer novio, que en 2010 llegó a poner a la venta las letras manuscritas originales asegurando que era él el protagonista. Sin embargo, la propia Kate lo desmintió en varias entrevistas explicando que la canción hablaba de los hombres en general: esa capacidad que tienen algunos de conservar dentro un niño, esa magia que muchas mujeres pierden al hacerse "demasiado responsables".

Se grabó en los AIR Studios de Londres en 1975 bajo la producción de David Gilmour (sí, el de Pink Floyd), que fue quien ayudó a costear la sesión. Bush ha reconocido que grabar con una orquesta completa a esa edad la aterrorizaba.

El videoclip es de una sencillez absoluta: ella sentada en el suelo, con las piernas cruzadas, cantando casi para sí misma. Según contó la propia Kate, fue idea de su hermano Jay, que la vio ensayando así y le dijo que lo dejara tal cual.

Tony Iommi & Jorn Lande - World Alone

Tony Iommi, el guitarrista fundador de Black Sabbath, ha vuelto a la carga con su primer single en solitario en 21 años. "World Alone" es el adelanto de su nuevo álbum, "From The Dark", que saldrá el 23 de octubre vía BMG y será su tercer disco en solitario tras "Iommi" (2000) y "Fused" (2005).

En esta ocasión Iommi comparte protagonismo con el cantante noruego Jørn Lande (conocido por Masterplan, Avantasia y por sustituir a Ronnie James Dio en la gira de Heaven & Hell en 2010), que pone voz a las ocho canciones del disco y firma también parte de la composición. Completan la banda Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate) al bajo y Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams) a la batería.

La canción se presentó en un evento especial en Birmingham, la ciudad natal de Iommi, muy cerca del famoso puente dedicado a Black Sabbath. El videoclip, de ambientación distópica, sigue a un personaje llamado "The Believer" atrapado en un videojuego retrofuturista del que debe escapar para salvar su vida.

El single saldrá también en formato 7 pulgadas el 4 de septiembre, con una versión instrumental en la cara B.

Permyon - Black Ocean

Permyon es una banda de metal progresivo de Barcelona formada en 2025, aunque sus integrantes vienen de un proyecto anterior llamado Fiction Kills. El quinteto está formado por Sergi Molina (voz), Lean Martín (bajo), Jonathan Sainzman (teclados), Tzak Taylor (guitarras) y Rubén Sánchez (batería).

"Black Ocean" es el quinto corte de su álbum debut homónimo, "Permyon", publicado el 7 de enero de 2026. Curiosamente, el disco llegó siete años después de que la banda publicara su primera demo en 2018, así que este debut es el resultado de una gestación bastante larga.

A diferencia de otros temas del disco, más cercanos al metal progresivo puro, "Black Ocean" se decanta por un lado más de rock progresivo, con texturas sinfónicas y dinámicas más suaves. La canción cuenta además con la colaboración de Laia Esquinas en coros. La segunda mitad del tema destaca especialmente por sus solos de guitarra técnicos y sus arreglos elaborados.

The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again

"Bigmouth Strikes Again" abre "The Queen Is Dead" (1986), el disco que muchos consideran la cima de The Smiths. Morrissey escribió la letra como una especie de autoparodia: se compara con Juana de Arco, arrepintiéndose de su propia lengua afilada después de haber hecho daño con sus palabras. Él mismo reconoció después que la canción nació de sentirse culpable tras una entrevista en la que se pasó de la raya criticando a otro artista.

Musicalmente destaca el trabajo de Johnny Marr, que grabó varias capas de guitarra entrelazadas, y los coros agudos que suenan casi como un eco fantasmal: son de Ann Coates, acelerados electrónicamente para que parecieran casi inhumanos, un efecto muy comentado en su momento.

La canción no tuvo un videoclip narrativo clásico (algo habitual en la banda, que apenas hizo vídeos convencionales).

Bear McCreary - When I Am Dead (Film Version)

Hoy toca una pieza de música de cine, no una canción al uso. Pertenece a la banda sonora de The Professor and the Madman (2019), el drama histórico con Mel Gibson y Sean Penn sobre la creación del Oxford English Dictionary, con música de Bear McCreary.

La historia detrás de esta pieza es curiosa: McCreary no la compuso originalmente para el cine. En 2015 se topó con el poema "Song" de la poeta victoriana Christina Rossetti, que empieza con el verso "When I am dead, my dearest", y quedó tan fascinado que decidió ponerle música por puro placer personal, sin ningún encargo detrás. La grabó con la mezzosoprano Melanie Henley Heyn, con quien había trabajado desde sus años de universidad, junto al Calder Quartet y un viola da gamba a cargo de Malachai Bandy.

Años después, al componer la banda sonora de The Professor and the Madman (ambientada en la Inglaterra del siglo XIX), se dio cuenta de que aquella pieza "de cajón" encajaba perfectamente con el tono de la película, así que la reinterpretó y adaptó como Film Version para una escena dramática concreta. De hecho, el disco incluye las dos versiones: esta Film Version (6:44) y la pieza de concierto original de 2015 (5:22).

Flamingods - Dreams (On The Strip)

Flamingods son un cuarteto psicodélico de Londres liderado por Kamal Rasool, conocidos por mezclar sonidos de Oriente Medio, Asia del Sur, África Occidental y pop británico. "Dreams (On The Strip)" fue su regreso en 2023, el primer tema nuevo tras el álbum "Levitation" de 2019.

Lo grabaron en Atlanta con el productor Ben H. Allen (que ha trabajado con Animal Collective, Deerhunter o M.I.A), y el estribillo cuenta con las voces de Poppy Hankin (de Girl Ray) y su pareja Joanie Eaton. Según el cantante Kamal Rasool, el poder de los sueños le tuvo enganchado tras perder a su padre por covid, empezando a tener sueños lúcidos con él en escenarios surrealistas que sentía a la vez poéticos y sin sentido, como si su padre intentara darle un consejo o simplemente estar más cerca de él. 

El videoclip, rodado entre Londres y Los Ángeles, está lleno de simbolismo: la imagen de las granadas hace referencia al nombre del pueblo de Baréin donde nació su padre, Ras Rumman (رأس الرمان), donde antiguamente se cultivaban granadas.

VMBRA - Wyrm

VMBRA es una banda de metal progresivo de Manchester, formada en 2022 por Jack Hogg y Ai Sanchez, que ya se conocían de su etapa universitaria en un proyecto de alt-rock anterior. "Wyrm" es el segundo tema de su álbum debut, "POLYLITH", publicado en 2026.

La banda se define por una mezcla de coros potentes, armonías vocales muy trabajadas y cambios de dinámica constantes, con influencias que van de Porcupine Tree y Haken a Leprous. Una curiosidad: ganaron el concurso Metal 2 The Masses en Manchester tras haberlo intentado sin éxito años antes, lo que les abrió las puertas del festival Bloodstock.

The Turtles - Happy Together

Publicada en enero de 1967 y editada como single, "Happy Together" es la canción más famosa de The Turtles y el único número 1 que consiguieron en el Billboard Hot 100, puesto al que llegó desbancando nada menos que a "Penny Lane" de The Beatles.

La compusieron Garry Bonner y Alan Gordon, entonces miembros de otro grupo, The Magicians. Lo curioso es que antes de llegar a The Turtles, la canción fue rechazada por una docena de artistas: nadie quería grabarla porque sonaba demasiado como una parodia. The Turtles la aceptaron precisamente porque buscaban cambiar su imagen de banda "seria" tras un par de discos de versiones de Dylan. El demo que circulaba estaba tan desgastado de tanto pasar de mano en mano que apenas se oía bien.

El arreglo final, con esa sección de metales y el toque de mellotrón, corrió a cargo de Chip Douglas, el bajista recién llegado al grupo. El resultado fue un himno instantáneo del pop de los 60 que con el tiempo se ha colado en infinidad de películas, series (Los Simpson, That '70s Show, ER...) y anuncios, y que ha sido versionado por artistas como Frank Zappa, Petula Clark o Weezer.

HUGEL, Imael Angel & Ultra Naté - Movin' to the Sun

 Aviso: esta canción cuenta con la colaboración de Imael Angel, un artista generado con inteligencia artificial creado por un productor de deep house húngaro. No es una persona real, sino una voz/proyecto virtual. HUGEL y Ultra Naté sí son artistas reales. En los créditos de composición figuran HUGEL, Loris Cimino, Maximilian Riehl e Imael Angel, así que la IA participa aquí como "autor" acreditado, no solo como intérprete.

"Movin' to the Sun" es el nuevo single de HUGEL, productor francés de house y tech house, junto a Ultra Naté, veterana cantante de Baltimore. El tema forma parte del álbum Twenty One y su título dio nombre a la gira del verano de 2026 organizada como parte de la campaña promocional del disco. 

La canción supuso un punto de inflexión en la carrera de Hugel, alejándose de las estructuras tradicionales de la música electrónica de baile hacia un sonido más orgánico y atmosférico. Es un tema house con influencias de tech house y marca la segunda colaboración entre Hugel y Naté, ya que el francés había remezclado antes el tema de Naté de 1997 "Free". 

La producción se ha descrito como atrevida y experimental para Hugel, con una estética minimalista y voces sincopadas que se apartan de las estructuras habituales de canción. 

El tema se lanzó el 22 de mayo de 2026 bajo el sello Make The Girls Dance Records y ya acumula varios remixes de DJs (Alexis Dante & PAGA, Chris Bessy, DJ Kantik...).

Rainbow - Since You Been Gone

Aunque suene a himno genuinamente Rainbow, la canción no nació con ellos. La escribió Russ Ballard, exmiembro de Argent, y la grabó por primera vez él mismo en su álbum de 1976 "Winning". Antes de que Rainbow la tocara ya habían existido otras versiones, incluida la de la banda estadounidense Head East en 1978.

La versión definitiva llegó en 1979, en el álbum "Down To Earth", con Graham Bonnet en la voz y Ritchie Blackmore a la guitarra, producida por Roger Glover, de Deep Purple. Fue el primer single del disco y se convirtió en uno de los temas más populares de Rainbow, llegando al número 6 en el Reino Unido.

Una curiosidad: el original de Ballard era más suave; Blackmore trasladó el riff de teclado a la guitarra, y Bonnet cambió la línea de armonía "Do do do do" por un contundente "Woah", dándole ese carácter rockero que todos recordamos.

Dato curioso: Bonnet solo cantó en un único álbum de Rainbow, precisamente Down To Earth, antes de dejar paso a Joe Lynn Turner.

Y otra anécdota más reciente: el tema apareció en la banda sonora de Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, presentándose a toda una nueva generación de oyentes.

Asia - The Traveller (Into The Light)

El grupo británico de rock progresivo Asia vuelve con "The Traveller (Into The Light)", el primer adelanto de su nuevo álbum "Indigo", que se publica el 6 de noviembre de 2026. Es su primer disco de estudio en 12 años, desde "Gravitas" (2014).

Esta nueva etapa está liderada por el teclista y cofundador Geoff Downes, junto a John Mitchell (guitarra, también en It Bites y Lonely Robot), Virgil Donati (batería, Planet X) y Harry Whitley, el nuevo vocalista y bajista cuyo timbre de voz recuerda mucho al del añorado John Wetton, fallecido en 2017.

Curiosidad: "Indigo" incluye dos composiciones inéditas escritas por el propio Wetton ("Tattoo Indigo, Parts 2 & 3" y "Chesapeake Bay") y cuenta con colaboraciones de lujo, como el histórico guitarrista Steve Howe (Yes) y el baterista Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater). Downes ha explicado que "The Traveller" es una canción optimista, sobre mirar hacia el futuro y "viajar hacia la luz".

Everything But The Girl (Todd Terry Remix) - Missing

"Missing" apareció originalmente en 1994 en el álbum Amplified Heart, del dúo británico formado por Tracey Thorn y Ben Watt. En su versión original era una canción pop-folk de tempo bajo, con guitarra acústica, y pasó bastante desapercibida en las listas.

La cosa cambió cuando el sello encargó un remix para las discotecas de Nueva York. El elegido fue Todd Terry, leyenda del house neoyorquino, que cogió la voz de Thorn y la melodía de Watt y las montó sobre una base de house contundente. El resultado, publicado en 1995, fue un pelotazo mundial: número 3 en Reino Unido y número 2 en Estados Unidos.

Lo curioso es que antes de llegar a Todd Terry hubo otros intentos de remix (de Ultramarine y de Chris & James) que no acabaron de convencer al sello. Fue el propio responsable de A&R de Atlantic Records quien pidió específicamente "una mezcla para las discotecas de Nueva York", y ahí entró Terry.

Este éxito inesperado marcó un antes y un después para Everything But The Girl: llevaban ya ocho discos publicados y una carrera asentada en el pop y el jazz, pero el remix de "Missing" los empujó hacia el terreno de la música electrónica, camino que siguieron en discos posteriores como Walking Wounded.

Haken - Lotus

"Lotus" es el tema que cierra el EP in a fever dream (2026), el primer lanzamiento de Haken en más de tres años. Es la pieza más larga del EP (más de 7 minutos) y, según varias reseñas, la más "clásica" en su sonido prog dentro de un disco que por lo demás suena más directo y menos técnico que discos anteriores como Fauna o Vector.

Curiosidades:

- El EP se grabó tras la salida de dos miembros históricos, el guitarrista Charlie Griffiths y el bajista Conner Green, a comienzos de 2026. La formación actual quedó reducida a Ross Jennings (voz), Richard Henshall (guitarras), Raymond Hearne (batería) y Pete Jones (teclados), con Bryan Beller y Adam "Nolly" Getgood como bajistas invitados en las grabaciones.

- Producido y mezclado por George Lever, conocido por su trabajo con Loathe y Sleep Token, algo nuevo para la banda.

- Varias reseñas destacan que "Lotus" cierra el EP "en su punto más alto", con un groove marcado en 6/8 y un final resuelto con un coro coral muy efectivo.

- No se lanzó como single ni tiene videoclip propio; solo "delirium" y "bleeding sky" tuvieron vídeo oficial.

Advent Horizon - Maybe

"Maybe" es el noveno corte de A Cell to Call Home (2023), tercer álbum de esta banda de prog rock de Salt Lake City, Utah. El disco es un concepto sobre el amor, la dependencia y la pérdida, narrado en primera persona por un protagonista que lucha contra una adicción. Dentro de ese relato, "Maybe" funciona como un respiro: una balada corta y acústica situada justo antes del tema título, de más de diez minutos.

Advent Horizon nació en 2008, cuando Rylee McDonald (voz, guitarras, teclados) y Mike Lofgreen (batería) aún estaban en el instituto. El nombre de la banda iba a ser Event Horizon (horizonte de sucesos, el límite alrededor de un agujero negro), pero por error de un amigo terminó siendo Advent Horizon, y decidieron quedarse con el "error".

En "Maybe" colabora al piano Jared Roswell Hill, quien también aparece en otros dos temas del álbum ("Water" y "Snow Child"). La canción arranca con unos acordes de guitarra eléctrica de aire jazzy y va construyéndose hacia un final con guitarra acústica arpegiada y piano muy tratado con efectos. La crítica la ha destacado como uno de los momentos más emotivos del disco, casi como una reflexión celestial dentro de la historia del protagonista.

Babymetal & Electric Callboy - Ratatata

Ratatata es una colaboración entre Babymetal y la banda alemana Electric Callboy, publicada como single el 23 de mayo de 2024 y más tarde incluida en el álbum Metal Forth (2025). Mezcla el kawaii metal característico de Babymetal con el electronicore desenfadado de Electric Callboy.

El tema surgió porque Babymetal quería crear una canción con el espíritu desenfrenado de "Hypa Hypa", uno de los hits de Electric Callboy. El videoclip, dirigido por Schillobros, tiene ese tono absurdo y colorido tan propio de las producciones del grupo germano. Las dos bandas debutaron el tema en directo juntas el 25 de mayo de 2024, en el FOX FEST de Babymetal en Saitama, y después lo tocaron en festivales como Rock im Park, Rock am Ring y Resurrection Fest.

Bruce Dickinson - Eternal

Eternal es el tema que cierra Scream for Me Sarajevo (Music from the Motion Picture), el álbum de 2018 que acompaña al documental sobre el concierto que Dickinson dio en Sarajevo en 1994, en plena guerra de Bosnia. La canción no es nueva: se grabó originalmente como demo durante las sesiones de Tyranny of Souls (2005) y solo llegó a incluirse en la edición japonesa de aquel disco, lo que la convirtió durante años en una rareza casi de coleccionista para los fans.

Al recuperarla para el documental, Eternal cobra un sentido distinto: como cierre de un disco dedicado a aquel concierto en una ciudad sitiada, la letra sobre héroes caídos y recuerdos que persisten encaja como un homenaje directo a las víctimas del conflicto. Musicalmente es una balada de tintes épicos, muy alejada del Iron Maiden de Dickinson, más cercana a su faceta solista más introspectiva junto a Roy Z.
